The wine region within the historical province of Champagne in the northeast of France is best known for the production of champagne, the sparkling white wine that bears the region's name.

May to October, though summer is a particularly good time to visit the region. In the fall harvest begins in late September and that's when the champagne houses are at their busiest, both on the production side and the tourism side.
